Trump vs. Springsteen: War of Words After 'Treasonous' Jab

Manchester: President Donald Trump publicly criticized Bruce Springsteen after the rocker called him “treasonous” during a concert in Manchester, England.

The incident took place on May 14, 2025, at the first show of Springsteen’s latest tour with the E Street Band, where the musician strongly condemned the Trump administration, labeling it “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.” Springsteen urged those who believe in democracy to raise their voices against authoritarianism.

In response, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform early Friday, accusing Springsteen of speaking negatively about the U.S. president while abroad and questioning his talent, despite having used Springsteen’s music at his rallies without permission in the past.

Trump’s post also contained personal insults, telling Springsteen to remain silent until he returned to the United States. Springsteen’s representative did not respond to Trump’s comments. This confrontation reflects the ongoing tension between Trump and several entertainment figures who have openly criticized his political career.

Springsteen has a long history of supporting Democratic candidates, and Trump has similarly targeted other celebrities like George Clooney and Taylor Swift. The exchange highlights the increasingly polarized political and cultural landscape in the U.S., where public figures use their platforms to voice strong opinions about the administration and its policies.
